KISS drummer, Eric Singer, has always liked watches, but he really stepped up his collecting in the early 1990s. It was at this time he began to take note of Zodiac. While doing internet searches and following online auctions, he became aware of some Zodiac pieces from the 1960's and early 1970's. Specifically, he was drawn to the Super Sea Wolf, which was often worn by Navy Seals, and the Astrographic, a unique piece that features invisible hands.

In more recent years, Eric has become a well known watch enthusiast and collector. He has been profiled by Watch Time magazine, and certain pieces in his collection were shown earlier this year on the popular watch blog site Hodinkee. Last year Eric tested the prototypes for the anti-shock Ball SpringLOCK system by drumming with the watch on during a live show in Milan, Italy. A few months later, we interviewed him to discuss the experience of performing a watch test on stage.

KISS' Eric Singer on old lineup, baby drummers
KISS drummer Eric Singer had several pieces of good advice for me about  bands. And life. He was just full of pearls of wisdom when I spoke with him in late July about KISS' most recent tour. Gems like, "You've got to keep your head together, keep it on straight, keep your nose clean, stay out of trouble." "I always look at music just like life. It's like a roller coaster. Sometimes you get to ride the ride and sometimes you're chugging up the hill." Of course, tonight KISS and Def Leppard hit the  stage at Klipsch where Singer won't be giving any advice, but instead just laying waste to his massive kit.

Here's my Q&A with Singer.

NUVO: You were last here with Motley Crue
I believe, two years ago. What are some memories of Indianapolis from previous shows here?

Eric Singer: I've been to Indianapolis many times. Because that's the  heartland of America, but it's also one of the main heartlands of KISS. I always tell people, Indianapolis, Detroit and Cleveland are the three  cities where KISS Alive I, II and III were recorded. All three of those  albums return to those three cities and they use whatever individual  performances from whichever night, which compiled those albums. It's always been one of the bases of our KISS Army fan base, big time. And as you know, there's always a KISS fan expo put on in Indianapolis. That is the premier and number one KISS fan expo. Like I said, we have a lot  of connections to that city, personally, as well as professionally as a band.

Ruben Velasco is a 39-year old professional touring guitar technician  who has worked with Rick Springfield, John5 of the Rob Zombie band and  many others. In his battle against his stage four cancer, some of the biggest names in music have stepped forward with one-of-a-kind artifacts to auction off on his behalf including KISS, Weezer, Sammy Hagar, Maroon 5, and the Goo Goo Dolls. “Rock for Ruben” culminates with a  special benefit concert at the House Of Blues on the Sunset Strip in Los Angeles on August 20th.

Autographed KISS Memorabilia Bundle

The ultimate KISS prize bundle is also the ultimate tribute to a member  of the KISS Army. When super-fan Ruben Velasco was diagnosed with cancer, the legendary rockers stepped in to help with this incredible  set of autographed music memorabilia. It's a veritable cornucopia of  amazing gear: an Epiphone Les Paul guitar signed by lead guitarist Tommy Thayer (plus a case), an exclusive KISS Pearl Snare Drum signed by  drummer Eric Singer, a dangerously rock 'n' roll axe bass guitar signed by none other than Gene Simmons (plus a case), and a Washburn Starfire guitar signed by Paul Stanley. It's enough to rock and roll all night with your own KISS-inspired band, or just display it all in the best KISS exhibit this side of the Rock Hall of Fame.

Everyone knows KISS. What most people do not know, however, is that the band’s drummer, Eric Singer, is a dyed-in-the-wool watch collector. Indeed, he is particularly fond of the Fifty Fathoms, the legendary timepiece by Blancpain.
